General information about Mazatlan.
The warm weather, the ocean, its people, its natural beauties, and the long gorgeous beaches, gain for Mazatlan the "PEARL OF THE PACIFIC" nickname.
Mazatlan meaning "land of the deer" in the ancient Nahuatl language. It's no wonder Mazatlan plays host to more than one million visitors per year.
The city of Mazatlan, located in the state of Sinaloa, lies just below the “Tropic of Cancer.” This equates to some of the best weather in the world. Similar to Hawaii and Cabo San Lucas, México.
The commerce, fishing and agriculture are some of the most important economic activities in the region. This contributes to the freshness and delight of the local cuisine. Fishing in particular is an activity that attracts many foreigners to visit Mazatlán and participate in fishing tournaments- including a yearly catch-and –release tournament.
Mazatlán’s diverse accommodations are designed with you in mind. Newlyweds, families and seasoned beachgoers alike feel at home in Mazatlán’s luxury resorts, villas, vacation rentals and beach hotels. The past 4 years the city has been one of the 2 most growing destinations (bigger than cancun, los cabos, vallarta). Mazatlan is not only a touristic destination but a complete city where you can find everything you need, from international baseball stadiums, international theaters, shopping malls, international hotels, a sharp hospital, the internationally known TEC DE MONTERREY university, well build highways, and much more. Right now the goverment of Sinaloa is finishing the MAZATLAN - DURANGO highway, when finished, this road is going to feed Mazatlan with tourism and business visitors from Nuevo León, Saltillo, Coahuila, Texas, Durango, and many more cities. Mazatlan has its own interesting historical background, the port was attacked by the frenchs invasion, was an importan place for PANCHO VILLA because the location of DURANGO, if you take a walking tour through the historical european downtown you will find history fills every corner
The Zona Dorada is situated along Av. Camaron Sabalo. From the Fiesta Land complex at the southern border ,to the Galactic Bowling Alley in the north, this strip contains everything the sun-seeking tourist could want.
The most popular beaches in the city are found here, as well as classier hotels. Less than 50 years ago, this area was a swamp, but it has since been drained and built up specifically for the visitor. Thus, this area is very accommodating to tourists. Everyone speaks English and there are more bars and nightclubs than you could ever want.
